Health and Safety

Health, safety and wellbeing within the government is based on the fundamental principle that everyone is responsible and personally accountable for:

  • their own health, safety and wellbeing
  • the health, safety and wellbeing of our work colleagues
  • the health and safety of anyone and everyone affected by the work that we do.

We have a clear vision for health, safety and wellbeing: the provision of a health, safety and well-being management system deserving of our Islands. As well as keeping our employees, service providers and visitors safe and healthy within our working environments and promoting and supporting employee wellbeing.

We have a clear agenda for sustainable improvement, with health, safety and wellbeing increasingly forming an integral part of the activities of all of our departments, service areas and business functions.

We are committed to achieving the following outcomes:

  • The prevention of occupational injuries and ill health
  • The assessment of risk and the provision of safe plant, equipment and systems of work
  • Compliance with applicable legal requirements and other relevant standards and codes of practice to which we subscribe
  • Continual improvement in our health, safety and wellbeing performance
  • Providing a framework for setting and reviewing our health, safety and wellbeing objectives
  • The provision of adequate resource, training and guidance to develop the competencies required to meet our health, safety and wellbeing objectives.
