Statute Law Commissioner & Statute Law Database
A Statute Law Commissioner is appointed under the Law Revision and Publication Ordinance 2017. The role of the Statute Law Commissioner is to:
- undertake a continual programme of law revision; and
- be responsible for the publication and maintenance of the Falkland Islands Statute Law Database.
Falkland Islands Statute Law Database
The laws of the Falkland Islands were first made available freely and electronically on 31 July 2017 through the Falkland Islands Statute Law Database and can be accessed through the following link (Click here to visit website).
The Revised Laws project was established in 2015 to address the difficulty of accessing the laws of the Falkland Islands. Ros Cheek was appointed Law Commissioner on 16 June 2015 to lead the project.
The aim of the project was the revision and subsequent publication of the laws of the Falkland Islands online. The vision for the project was that it would form a resource that can be continually updated and is available online to anyone who wishes to access it. This has been achieved through the publication of the Statute Law Database.
The technical contractor to the project was Leidos Pty Ltd, who continue to provide technical support for the Database.
