Sarah Bowles | Veterinary Practice Manager
I joined the Dept of Ag as an agricultural assistant in 1998 and have remained within the Department ever since – making me one of the longest serving members of staff. I initially worked in various areas of the Department; agronomy, laboratory, veterinary, helping with field work etc but my interest was really captured by the veterinary section above all else and when the job of Veterinary Services Officer came up I applied and was successful. My role and responsibilities have developed over the years and I am now the practice manager of the clinic. My duties include but are not limited to the day to day running of the practice, overseeing the Hydatid Control Programme, handling the importation/exportation of animals into and from the Islands and a large proportion of my role is taken up with certification of product (fishery, meat, wool) to the EU and various countries. The job means I may be reading EU legislation one day and blood sampling sheep the next - I enjoy the variety of my role and especially that it allows me to get out into the Camp and to interact with the farming community.
