PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

10 June 2021

Tin and can monthly collection

The Public Works Department would like to inform the public that the monthly tin and can collection from households in Stanley will take place on Sunday 13 June.

Collection did not take place last Sunday due to adverse weather conditions. Tins and cans collection from commercial businesses continue to be collected weekly each Sunday.

Please remember to ensure that you only place recyclable tins and cans into your bin, that these have been rinsed out and any easy to remove labels are removed. Do not place any cardboard boxes or bin bags into your bin. The following household items can be recycled:

  • Food and drinks cans, including fizzy drinks cans and beer cans
  • Food and drinks tins, like your tin of baked beans
  • Aluminium or tin foil
  • Foil food containers
  • Metal food jar lids

Failure to follow this guidance may mean that your bin will not be emptied by the Refuse Contractor. Please do not attempt to recycle any industrial metals, aerosol cans, liquid or food waste.

Finally, PWD would like to thank the public for their contributions so far towards the recycling programme, which has seen approximately 28m3 of uncrushed tins and cans collected each month.

For more information please contact the Building Maintenance Manager, Nick Francis, on 27177.
