Careers Officer

The post holder will provide impartial job, training and study-related advice in order to help individuals make decisions about their career options and to reach their full potential and support lifelong learning. You will also work with the Careers Lead to promote career events to people in the Islands and students studying overseas. Essential criteria for the role include an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional qualifications or suitable relevant experience working in a similar role at the same level, a minimum of five years’ relevant work experience in the field of training and development, three years’ experience of effective team leadership and management and the ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) to a variety of audiences and demonstrate excellent classroom management. A manual driving licence is essential.

Electrician/Electrical Technician

The Power & Electrical Section has a vacancy for a qualified Electrician/Electrical Technician, depending on qualifications and experience. The main purpose of the post is to provide a daily response to the electrical distribution system comprising both overhead and underground services at voltages up to 22,000 volts. Experience of working on live systems would be an advantage, as would knowledge of cable jointing techniques but training will be given where necessary. The opportunity also exists to undertake training with Enercon to then assist with the maintenance of the Sand Bay and Mare Harbour wind farms. Applicants must hold a valid driving licence and be willing to join an on-call rota to provide a 24-hr response for faults occurring on the distribution network

Health & Social Services Department Emotional Wellbeing Service Support Worker

Working as part of a multidisciplinary Emotional Wellbeing Service (EWS) in the Falkland Islands to support the delivery of high quality, recovery-focused, person-centred care to a caseload of service users across the lifespan with a wide range of mental health and emotional wellbeing needs. Essential criteria for the role include an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as (Mental) Health and Social Care along with 5 years experience of working with people with mental health needs (or other health and social care needs) in formal or informal settings. This role offers the opportunity for progression to a Community Psychiatric Nurse.

Campus Manager

This is a new role in the Education Department.  It will be an important role, ensuring that in Stanley and in Camp the Education’s Department’s buildings, equipment, IT and vehicles are developed and maintained to enable high quality education and training. The post holder will be responsible for planning and management of buildings, equipment, IT and vehicles across Education, including: FICS, IJS, Camp Education (2 settlement schools, 5 schoolrooms), Stanley House, Falkland College and the Education Office. The role is also responsible for identifying and recommending operational changes to drive efficiencies through the organisation.  Essential criteria for the role includes: HND (Level 5) or equivalent qualification; a relevant professional qualification e.g. Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (was BIFM) at Level 3 or 4; performance at a level consistent with 7 years’ experience in workplace or facilities management; excellent knowledge of Health and Safety risks in facilities management; able to demonstrate effective response and management of risks e.g. fire safety, workshop safety, legionella
