Offshore Petroleum Wells Lead

FIG Grade: A starting salary £57,716 – £86,131 per annum depending on qualifications and experience (plus 25% market supplement allowance).

The Opportunity: The Offshore Petroleum Wells Lead is responsible for regulatory oversight of all offshore petroleum activities associated with wells, including integrity, design, drilling operations, and decommissioning. The role involves assessing well designs, drilling programmes, suspension and decommissioning proposals, licence applications, technology plans and emergency response plans, with a strong emphasis on well integrity throughout the lifecycle of each well.

Essential criteria: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), IWCF level 4 accreditation, BOSET (CA-EBS)/MIST and OEUK approved medical certificates. Significant experience (10+ years) of industry experience in planning, delivery, operations and decommissioning of offshore oil and gas wells, with demonstrable expertise in the complex technical and operation challenges associated with well design, integrity, and abandonment techniques and a proven track record of analysing offshore wells plans and delivery, risks and performance and developing clear recommendations with supporting evidence.

Offshore Petroleum Wells Lead Advert

Minerals Officer

FIG Grade D1 starting salary £36,274 to £41,668 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: To lead all operations, regulations, guidance, and regulatory function under the Mining Ordinance (2005) for onshore minerals which includes (but is not limited to) Crown minerals, precious metals, calcified seaweed other minerals and quarried materials. The role includes management and assessment of compliance of onshore mineral licensing and the development and modernisation of policy and legislation for onshore minerals, liaising with the British Geological Survey on onshore minerals matters and the development and modernisation of policy, guidance and legislation for onshore minerals and activities under Mining Ordinance.

Essential criteria: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), five years’ relevant work experience, the ability to grasp complex areas of work quickly and think creatively to develop solutions to identified problems, experience of developing policy for new concepts or to replace outdated policies, the ability to understand and deliver processes to meet legislative requirements and identify areas for improvement and efficiencies within an area of work and instigate changes as necessary and the ability to effectively analyse complex information and provide robust advice.

The Opportunity: Stanley House are looking for a full time Houseparent to provide a safe, caring, boarding environment with a focus on delivering high standards of person-centred care for all boarders.

Essential criteria for the role to include a good level of education with a minimum GCSE grade C/level 4 or above in Maths & English (or equivalent), a current manual driving licence and three years’ driving experience in order to pass the FIG proficiency test for Minibus and Land Rover. Additionally, experience of working with students in a pastoral capacity (as a parent or in a youth organisation etc.) is also required.

Laboratory Assistant/Advanced Practitioner

Starting Salary: This is a dual graded role depending on qualifications and experience, commencing from £19,337 - £21,969 per annum within Grade H1 (Laboratory Assistant) or from £25,450 - £29,189 per annum within Grade F (Advanced Practitioner).

The Opportunity: This is a progression planned role to allow the successful applicant to develop their career within the Pathology Department. The successful applicant will assist members of the laboratory team across both Pathology and Food, Water & Environmental laboratories to provide an efficient and effective service to all users.

Essential criteria for the Laboratory Assistant role include Grade C in English, Maths and Science or equivalent and excellent communication skills to provide and accurate oral and written communication.

As an Advanced Practitioner you must hold a Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in a relevant subject matter 5 years’ experience of effectively using clinical laboratory database software and Laboratory Information Management Systems.

Additional Information: Due to the sensitive nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to undergo enhanced background and criminal record checks.

Offshore Petroleum – Sustainability and Socio-Economic Officer

FIG Grade C starting salary £43,141 – £53,055 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: to be responsible for managing all data collection, analysis and development of data management systems associated with both the environmental and the socio-economic sustainability of the offshore petroleum industry. This will include the analysis and fulfilment of national and international reporting and data sharing obligations. Additional to this, the post holder will be responsible for providing the secretariat function for the Falkland Islands Environmental Impact Offsetting Trust.

Essential criteria: to include a bachelor’s degree and significant experience (7+ years minimum) in sustainability, environmental and/or socio-economic research and data analysis. Experience of oil and gas projects would be advantageous Additionally, extensive experience of operating within a public sector or research organisation (government or non-government) and understanding complex datasets and successfully delivering research projects to deadlines.

The Opportunity: Falkland Islands Community School, Infant Junior School & Camp Education are looking for full time Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work Mon-Fri 08.00 – 16.30 for both Primary & Secondary Schools. The posts involve supporting and assisting students with their educational and social progress and helping develop their learning and understanding. 

Some roles include supporting children with complex special educational needs and challenging behaviours. 

Essential criteria for the role include evidence of a good level of literacy and numeracy i.e. GCSE Grade 4/Grade C or above (or equivalent), in English and Maths, an ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative and a capacity to work with children with behavioural and emotional needs.  Applicants must also have patience, flexibility and be competent at delivering instructions.

This requires the incumbent to work in collaboration with a range of FIG departments and external stakeholders and provide advice and engineering support in multi-agency environment.

Essential criteria: A recognised Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (or the ability to demonstrate 10 years’ experience of working at this level), continuous professional development in RF systems or broadcast technology, 10 years’ technical experience in the telecoms/radio communications/broadcast sector.

This will include upholding regulations, ensuring that FIG safety and security is maintained, supporting the provision of harbour control services and ensuring the safe transit and handling of vessels into and out of the port.  

Essential criteria include holding an International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Officer of the Watch (Deck) REG II/1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or Vessel Traffic Service Operator certification and 5 years’ relevant experience.
