Stanley Leisure Centre - Receptionist

We are seeking for a responsible individual to greet visitors and deliver exceptional customer services.  The candidate will oversee the daily operations of the Stanley Leisure Centre reception. Essential criteria for the role include educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualifications or experience, a good written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must also have excellent interpersonal skill, good understanding of customer care practices and good administrative & finance skills.

Stanley Leisure Centre - Duty Supervisor

To take direct responsibility for ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming environment for staff, school pupils and general public and to take total charge of the Leisure Centre when the Deputy or Centre Manager is absent.  Essential criteria for the role include 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above including English and Maths, current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, current First Aid at Work Qualification and Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Health and Fitness (or related subject). Candidate must also have 3 to 5 years relevant experience of working with young people and clients of all ages.

Childcare Advisory Teacher - Education Department

To raise standards of childcare provision, achievement and outcomes for children in the Falkland Islands by supporting the improvement in the quality of childcare in the independent childcare settings. The successful candidate will achieve this through leadership, challenge, support, coaching, mentoring, training and advice. Essential criteria include being a graduate teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (recognisable in UK) who has completed the statutory induction year as an NQT and has at least 3 years’ recent experience working in Early Years Foundation Stage within the UK or British curriculum school, have excellent knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage pedagogy and previous experience of successfully leading and managing other staff in a school setting.

Natural Resources Department - Stock Assessment Scientist – Data Analyst

To manage the input, validation, and quality assurance of fisheries data to the Fisheries Department’s database, which includes electronic log book data reports and collection of oceanographic measurements at sea. To provide data and other relevant information for assessment and population dynamics modelling of commercial fish and squid stocks, licencing advice, and related fisheries research projects. Essential criteria for the role include a BSc level in Fisheries science or a degree with a high numerical/statistical/IT content, or equivalent qualifications showing particular strengths in these areas, along with two years’ experience of database management.

Treasury Department - Company Taxation Officer

Candidates will be required to apply tax legislation and procedures to obtain Tax Revenues for the Falkland Islands Government, focused on Corporation Tax and Income Tax for unincorporated businesses. The role requires substantial experience in a Tax Office environment and relevant professional qualifications will include a detailed technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and at least one of the following qualifications – HMRC Tax Professional Development Programme, Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) or CCAB /CIMA accountant, or equivalent.

Health & Social Services Department - Advanced Practitioner (Childcare)

Education Department - Learning Support Assistants - FICS and IJS &CE

FICS & IJS&CE are looking for full time LSA to work Mon-Fri 08.00 – 16.30 for both Primary & Secondary Schools. The posts involve supporting and assisting students with their educational and social progress and helping develop their learning and understanding. Essential Criteria for the role include evidence of a good level of literacy and numeracy i.e. GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent), in English and Maths, an ability to prioritise tasks and use initiative and a capacity to work with children with behavioural and emotional needs in order to improve their social skills. Applicants must also have patience, flexibility, the ability to prioritise tasks and be competent at delivering instructions.

Policy & Economic Development Department - Environmental Officer and Policy Advisor

Reporting to the Head of Environment, this role contributes to a broad range of strategic environmental policies, programmes and initiatives, including responsibility for enforcement of environmental regulations. Essential criteria for the role include a University Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (such as environmental or natural sciences, environmental management, applied ecology) plus a minimum of two years relevant work experience.

Treasury Department - Accounting Assistant – Debtors and Insurance

To assist FIG departments in the prompt collection of the Government debts, providing advice and guidance to departments, ensuring prompt accounting of receipts and taking appropriate actions on debts referred to Treasury. You will also provide support for FIGs commercial insurance and other Treasury functions as required. You should have four years’ experience in a finance or similar function. Essential criteria include GCSE’s at grade C or above in maths and English or equivalent, an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject or equivalent, along with four years’ experience in a finance function.
