Education Department - Casual Exam Invigilators

Closing Date: 14 October 2022

To have a key role in upholding the integrity and security of the examination/assessment process by conducting examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), regulations and instruction. Essential criteria include GCSE Grade 4 or above in English (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years administrative experience.

Education Department - Childcare Liaison Assistant

To support the Childcare Advisory Teacher to raise standards of childcare provision, achievement and outcomes for children in the Falkland Islands by supporting the improvement in the quality of childcare in childcare settings.  To achieve this through support, coaching, mentoring, training and advice.  Essential Criteria for the role includes education to at least Level 5 (degree level or above) in an appropriate area (e.g. Early Years, Education, etc), be a role model practitioner, have extensive childcare and/or Early Years sector experience along with experience of implementing change in an education environment.

Emergency Services and Island Security Department - Police Sergeant (Operations)

Assist the Inspector in managing the day-to-day operation of the Royal Falkland Islands Police Service, by providing energetic, visible, accessible and effective supervision in order to ensure the delivery of an excellent quality of service to the community and to achieve the aims of the departmental Business Plan and the Islands Plan. To embed a strong community based approach to policing the islands. Provide operational, administrative and training support. Coordinate and control the routine work of the operational staff.  Essential criteria for the role include a substantive Sergeant or had very recent evidence of experience as acting/temporary Sergeant for 3 to 5 years and must have experience of managing operations and investigations successfully.

Emergency Services and Island Security Department - Police Constable/Tutor Police Constable

To be part of a dedicated team, providing a 24/7 emergency and public protection service to the Falkland Islands community.  Your duties will vary and will include a wide range of interesting challenges to maintain low crime rates, contribute to the prevention of incidents through the thorough investigation and detection of crime. In addition, you will contribute to keeping the peace and providing response to the community and other agencies through helping, advising, assisting, supporting and reassuring where necessary. Essential criteria for the role include GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above.  Applicants should also have good problem solving and analytical skills, keen observational skills and hold a full driver’s licence enabling them to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.

Essential criteria for the role include being educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject matter, a current valid driving license, 5 years + work experience in a relevant IT field with demonstrable experience of successful delivery in a results driven environment, significant experience of working successfully with senior managers and key stakeholders, effective organisational skills, proven project management experience and a flexible approach to work.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to carry out a variety of tasks in the Leisure Centre to make it a safe and enjoyable place for the general public to use.  Essential criteria for this role include a current Pool Lifeguard qualification, or the ability to gain, a valid First Aid Certification and sporting/leisure/fitness experience. Training can be provided for the right candidate.  The candidate must also be a strong team player and have the capacity to work effectively with people of all ages and abilities.

Development & Commercial Services Department - Stanley Leisure Centre - Duty Supervisor

To take direct responsibility for ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming environment for staff, school pupils and general public and to take total charge of the Leisure Centre when the Deputy or Centre Manager is absent.  Essential criteria for the role include 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above including English and Maths, current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, or the ability to gain, current First Aid at Work Qualification and NVQ Level 3 in Health and Fitness (or related subject). Candidate must also have 3 to 5 years relevant experience of working with young people and clients of all ages.

Health & Social Services Department - Medical Coordinator

To assist, and in times of absence, provide cover for, the Overseas Medical Coordinator and Practice Manager to enable them to meet their agreed aims and objectives within an efficient, safe and effective working environment, whilst maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and probity.  This will involve co-ordinating the operation of the immigration medical process, working with key personnel both internally and externally to ensure that the process operates efficiently and effectively and assisting with medical treatment overseas (MTO) procedures.

Treasury - Head of Finance

Reporting to the Financial Secretary, you will be responsible for the full breadth of core finance functions, budget management, financial forecasting, financial accounts, controls, system improvement as well as leading a team.  The successful applicant will be a qualified CCAB accountant, with significant post qualification experience.  The role requires an ability to lead a team of professional finance staff, budget management & control, technical understanding and an ability to be flexible and see through improvements. You must be a strong team player and be able to develop effective working relationships across FIG, and with external stakeholders.
