The Opportunity: The Chief Police Officer will manage a small professional team of inspectors, sergeants, constables and police staff. You will provide visible, inspirational and considered leadership of the Royal Falkland Islands Police (RFIP) and to support, when requested, policing requirements related to South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (SGSSI). To provide leadership and overall responsibility of the day-to-day management within RFIP to ensure the provision of a responsive, accessible and high standard of service. To plan and deliver the RFIP policing requirements as set out in the Police Ordinance 2000.

Essential Criteria: Significant (10+) years of successful UK Police experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ as an experienced manager or expert adviser in the UK policing professional profiles. (If returning to policing this experience must have been within the past 36 months), experience of leading, monitoring and supporting staff to resolve operational incidents, including coordinating a multi-agency response according to JESIP principles, educated to degree level or significant equivalent vocational experience, evidence of attendance on a Senior Police Leadership or Management Programme and must align with the Royal Falkland Islands Police Core Values – fairness, integrity and respect.

The Opportunity: The successful applicant will act on behalf of, and deputise for, the Harbour Master in their absence and, to provide support in the provision of delivering a maritime administration for the Falkland Islands.

Essential Criteria role includes a STCW 95 Mates 11/2.1 Chief Mates Certificate and at least 5 years’ relevant work experience in a variety of marine operations including experience as a Chief Officer / Deck Officer on foreign going vessels and a valid driving licence.

The Opportunity: To be responsible for leading the Minerals Resources Directorate to ensure effective and efficient regulation of all offshore petroleum and onshore minerals activity to a high standard. The postholder would be a member of the Corporate Management Team (CMT) and is expected to contribute to the corporate and strategic management of the Government.

Essential criteria: A Master’s degree in either health, safety or environment, or alternative business qualification (or equivalent experience) and an undergraduate degree in Business Management (or evidence of suitable training and job experience). The postholder must also have a minimum of ten years extensive experience in leading complex and large-scale teams, projects and programmes of a similar level (ideally in a regulatory capacity) with knowledge/experience of the hydrocarbon industry, (or another industrial sector presenting major hazards). The postholder must have proven evidence of working at a senior operational or regulatory level, have excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex information effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders.

The Opportunity: To collect biological information and monitor vessel compliance, playing a critical role in the conservation and management of fisheries resources by gathering data essential to the sustainable management of the Falkland Islands Fisheries resources. Fisheries Observers will be required to spend periods of up to five weeks at sea to collect biological and other data on ships fishing in Falkland waters.

Essential criteria: A BSc (or equivalent) in Fisheries Science, Marine Affairs or other relevant subject, (or demonstrable evidence of working in a comparable role at a similar level), completion of a basic sea survival (STCW95) course, capacity to write detailed and comprehensive reports using appropriate software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to work effectively and safely alone, sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
