Public Works Department - Power & Electrical – Store Person

To place and track orders and to assist in the day to day running of the Power Station stores. Essential criteria for the role include educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English, be computer literate and have the ability to read and understand parts catalogues. The candidate must also hold a Class C1 driving licence (or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of appointment). Experience of Shire software and FIG procurement protocols would be an advantage.

Public Works Department - Mechanical Technician

You will be required to help maintain power generation plant and auxiliary equipment to supply Stanley with 24 hour electricity. This includes 8 Allen Diesels medium speed generators with an output of 6.6MW, 3 Cummins high speed generators with an output of 6MW, 9 Enercon wind turbines with an output of 3MW and some smaller standby generators held by various FIG departments. The postholder is also required to provide 24 hour call-out cover as part of an on-call rota. Applicants will need to be able to work in a noisy environment when maintaining the conventional generating plant, as well as a cramped workspace at height when maintaining wind turbines. Some remote work at the Fox Bay Power Station will also be required from time to time. Essential minimum criteria include being qualified in mechanical engineering or able to demonstrate at least ten years working on relevant machinery.

The Laboratory technician provides direct technical support and services to the teaching and learning of science-based subjects, carrying out risk assessments as appropriate and ensuring all laboratory / science-based teaching activities are carried out in accordance with school policies and Health and Safety best practice. Essential criteria include evidence of a good level of English and Maths (e.g. GCSE Grade C in English and Maths), Level 3 or equivalent in a t least one Science subject and the candidate must have experience of dealing with laboratory equipment, e.g. electrical equipment, fume cupboards, pressure vessels, etc

Essential criteria for the role include a current qualification in Health and Food Hygiene for working in kitchens and at least three years’ experience of catering for large numbers. Candidates must also demonstrate a sound understanding of the principles of a good diet, especially in relation to children aged 9-16 year.

Stanley House are looking for a full time Houseparent to provide a safe, caring, boarding environment with a focus on delivering high standards of person-centred care for all boarders. Essential criteria for the role include a good education demonstrated by GCSE passes at Grade C or above in Maths & English (or equivalent), a current driving licence and ability to pass the FIG proficiency test in the Minibus and Land Rover (which includes a requirement to have 3 years driving experience).  Experience of working with students in a pastoral capacity (as a parent or in a youth organisation etc.) is also an essential requirement.
