Executive Management - Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive and Financial Secretary

Reporting to the Chief Executive (CE), the postholder will provide critical support to the CE and Financial Secretary (FS) by coordinating and following up on priority initiatives to deliver on FIG’s mandate and improve organisational effectiveness.  As the key resource for the CE, the postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide-ranging agenda of cross-government initiatives. Essential criteria include an undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification or significant experience working in a role at a similar level.

Emergency Services & Island Security - Maritime Officer

Closing Date: 10 February 2023

To provide efficient oversight of harbour and port operations, including vessel traffic monitoring, promulgation of maritime safety information and control of vessel movements within the main harbours of the Falkland Islands. This will include upholding regulations, ensuring that FIG safety and security is maintained, supporting the provision of harbour control services and ensuring the safe transit and handling of vessels into and out of the port.   Essential criteria include: Officer of the Watch (Deck) STCW REG II/1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or Vessel Traffic Service Operator certification, with 5 years’ relevant experience.

Falkland Islands Government Grade: D2 Starting Salary £32,461 - £37,425 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience.

Education - Deputy Principal of the Falkland Islands Community School

To support the Principal in providing effective leadership and management of secondary provision in the Falkland Islands Community School working to promote and deliver the vision and direction for the school through the implementation of a range of well-planned strategies.  Essential Criteria include: Qualified Teacher Status, at least 8 years post qualification secondary teaching experience and a minimum of 3 years’ successful school leadership and management experience.

Education - Special Education Needs Coordinator

The Education Department is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to start in September 2023. The SENCo is responsible for directing and supporting provision and intervention strategies within the 3 – 16 age range in the Infant Junior School and Camp Education and the Falkland Islands Community School. Applicants must be qualified teachers (recognisable in UK) who have preferably completed the National Award for SEN Co-ordination; and have 3 years’ teaching experience and at least 3 years’ recent experience as a SENCo within the UK or a British curriculum school.
