Public Works (Property & Municipal) - Skilled Handyperson

To ensure that the Falkland Island Government (FIG) buildings and properties are maintained and repaired to a high standard which includes furniture, fixtures & fittings and other equipment as necessary. Essential criteria include a current valid driving license, previous experience in carpentry and certified to skill level one.

Policy & Economic Development - Statistics & Research Officer

To provide leadership on social and population data collection, analysis, interpretation and management. On behalf of senior Government and client Departments, this work covers a diverse range of topic areas including health and social care, education, public safety, emergency services, human resources and culture and recreation. The post-holder is responsible for designing and delivering the national census every five years, as well as for the collection and dissemination of other national and sub-national level data and statistics as required, including the fulfilment of international reporting and data sharing obligations. Essential criteria include a post graduate qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as, social or population science, social statistics/science or social/population research methods etc along with a Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a public sector or research organisation with social and/or population research and statistical analysis responsibility.

Health & Social Services - Security Officer/Driver (Casual)

Applicants are required to work casually within the KEMH providing essential routine and emergency driving and general security of the buildings. Essential criteria for the role include a full clean C1 driving (manual) license.

Human Resources - Senior HR Advisor

The post holder will manage a team of Human Resources Advisors/Trainee Advisors, being responsible for ensuring effective quality control systems and procedures are in place to support effective delivery of FIG HR services including local and overseas recruitment, on boarding, employee relations advice and other guidance. In addition, the post holder will support FIG managers by providing advice, support, guidance and training in managing their staff in accordance with the Management Code and will lead in the development of office procedures and processes to deliver an effective HR service. This will include the development of data requirements to allow for effective evidence-based decision making. Essential skills include: ability to deliver a high-quality HR services to tight timescales, the ability to effectively deal with complex issues in a calm and measured manner, and the ability to adapt quickly and flexibly to new demands and change and to prioritise to work to ensure deadlines are met and candidates must hold Chartered CIPD Membership.

Emergency Services & Island Security - Prison Officer

Treasury Department - Company Taxation Officer

Candidates will be required to apply tax legislation and procedures to obtain Tax Revenues for the Falkland Islands Government, focused on Corporation Tax and Income Tax for unincorporated businesses. The role requires substantial experience in a Tax Office environment and relevant professional qualifications will include a detailed technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and at least one of the following qualifications – HMRC Tax Professional Development Programme, Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) or CCAB /CIMA accountant, or equivalent.

Law & Regulation Department - Legal Support Officer

To provide support to legal officers in Government Legal Services to enable the provision of a comprehensive legal service to the Falkland Islands Government. The post holder will also act as the initial point of contact for Chambers including dealing with Government land enquiries, providing legal advice specific to the land disposals process; notarial & commissioner for oaths service; referring more complex matters for consideration by Crown Counsel. Essential Criteria include 4 GCSEs or equivalent at grade 4/C or above, including English and maths, have a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience including good experience with standard office equipment, excellent numeracy skills and be able to work unsupervised, meet deadlines while ensuring good attention to detail and have the proven ability to record information quickly and accurately (minute-taking).

Public Works Department - Health & Safety Advisor

To advise Directors, Heads of Service, Managers and Employees on all aspects of health and safety to ensure compliance with legislation and adherence to FIG’s Health & Safety Policy.  Essential criteria include; a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) with graduate IOSH status at Level 5 with a minimum of 5 years’ experience operating in a lead Health & Safety role for an organisation with comparable complexity.

Education Department - Stanley House Cook

Stanley House have a vacancy for a Cook to be responsible for the planning and provision of meals for students, staff and visitors at Stanley House ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety. Essential criteria for the role include a current qualification in Health and Food Hygiene for working in kitchens and at least three years’ experience of catering for large numbers. Candidates must also demonstrate a sound understanding of the principles of a good diet, especially in relation to children aged 9-16 year.
