Job Title:  Economist/ Senior Economist

FIG Grade: This is a dual grade post with starting salary FIG Grade C commencing from £42,641 - £49,090 per annum (Economist) or FIG Grade B £47,928 - £54,924 per annum (Senior Economist) depending on qualifications and experience. This post attracts a 15% Market Supplement Allowance.

The Opportunity: To provide economic policy analysis and advice across FIG, as well as leadership on the application of economic principles and tools for the evaluation of public policy options and decisions.  The economist also responsible for the preparation and publication of various national economic indicators and forecasts in the national interest.

Essential criteria: include a Masters’ degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Public Policy or in another subject with evidence of equivalent advanced-level courses in economics and/or policy analysis; and 5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in a public sector, not-for-profit, research organisation or private sector entity with public policy and/or economic analysis responsibility.

Job Title:  Data Analyst

FIG Grade: This is a dual grade post with starting salary FIG Grade D2 commencing from £35,774 to £41,168 per annum or FIG Grade C £42,641 to £49,090 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post attracts a 15% Market Supplement Allowance.

The Opportunity: To provide leadership on social and economic research, including data collection, analysis and interpretation on behalf of senior Government officials and client Departments. This work covers a diverse range of topic areas including health and social care, education, public safety, emergency services, human resources and culture and recreation. The post-holder is responsible for designing and delivering the national census every five years, as well as for the collection and dissemination of other national and sub-national level data and statistics. The role also involves management of the Government’s Performance Management system.

Essential criteria:  A Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as social or population science, social statistics/science, or social/population research methods, with 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in a public sector or research organisation with social and/or population research and data analysis responsibility. The Grade C role requires a relevant post-graduate qualification and 5 to 10 years’ experience.

NATURAL RESOURCES - Fisheries Protection Officer

The Opportunity: to work as a key member of the Fisheries Protection Service team to provide an efficient service to uphold regulations, prevent/deter illegal fishing and support crew welfare and safety protocols. 

Essential criteria for the role to include a BSc in a relevant subject or a minimum of 5 years’ equivalent experience in a similar role or a Marine Certificate of Competency or Skipper (Full) Fishing Certificate. Applicants must be able to work under pressure, with previous experience of working in Fisheries Protection or Law enforcement and have proven abilities to work effectively as part of a team or with minimal supervision. Applicants must be physically fit to undertake the duties of the post.

Job Description - Court Legal Officer

Learning Support Assistants –FICS, IJS & Camp Education

FIG Grade G1 starting salary £21,135 - £24,279 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: Falkland Islands Community School, Infant Junior School & Camp Education are looking for full time Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work Mon-Fri 08.00 – 16.30 for both Primary & Secondary Schools. The posts involve supporting and assisting students with their educational and social progress and helping develop their learning and understanding. 

Some roles include supporting children with complex special educational needs and challenging behaviours. 

Essential criteria for the role include evidence of a good level of literacy and numeracy i.e. GCSE Grade 4/Grade C or above (or equivalent), in English and Maths, an ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative and a capacity to work with children with behavioural and emotional needs.  Applicants must also have patience, flexibility and be competent at delivering instructions.

FIG Grade A: starting salary £57,216 – £85,631 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: The Offshore Petroleum Policy Lead is responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing all offshore petroleum industry related policies, legislation, codes of practice, and associated technical guidance. You will ensure these frameworks remain robust, up-to-date, and aligned with best practices, enabling the effective and efficient management and regulation of this essential component of national energy infrastructure.

Essential criteria: to include a Master’s degree and significant experience (10+ years) in a senior policy delivery role, which involves delivery of major projects or programmes of national importance. Experience of oil and gas project would be advantageous. Additionally, extensive experience of operating within a public sector or research organisation (government or non-government) with senior policy responsibility.
