Social Work Assistant

FIG Grade E: Starting Salary £26,997 - £31,120 per annum depending on qualifications and experience

The Opportunity: The role of a social work assistant (SWA) is very varied, supporting social workers in all aspects of their role. SWAs are typically responsible for assisting with administrative tasks, providing support to clients and helping people to find the appropriate services to help them with their needs, including providing advice regarding Income Support. Essential criteria for the role include an NVQ Level 3 in Social Care or equivalent and English GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent level of education along with significant experience of working with children and/or adults in either formal or informal settings

Assistant Taxation Officer

Closing Date: 01 March 2024

The successful applicant will directly report to the Head of Personal Tax & Pensions and will assist with the administration of the Falkland Islands Taxation system.  The work of the friendly, but small, team is to assess and collect tax and ensure compliance with tax laws.  Candidates should have at least 4 years relevant experience in an office or financial environment with a good standard of literacy and an aptitude for working with figures.

Construction Project Manager

Closing Date: 01 March 2024

To oversee specialised contractors and other personnel relating to projects on behalf of the Falkland Island Government. This will include planning, coordinating, budget management and supervising major infrastructure projects from development to completion. Essential criteria for the role will include a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent, i.e. NVQ5) in civil engineering, construction or building, or other evidence of this level of ability (i.e. training record and job experience) and ten years’ experience in senior role involving delivery of government infrastructure projects.

Biodiversity Protection Advisor

Closing Date: 01 March 2024

Reporting to the Head of Environment, the Biodiversity Protection Advisor will contribute to advancing biodiversity management and protections, through policy development and operational aspects of the Environment Department. Essential criteria for the role will include a Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, such as environmental science or management, natural sciences or similar, a Master’s Degree or postgraduate qualification in environmental sciences or management, natural sciences or similar discipline, a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in government, non-governmental organizations, industry, research or similar, with an environmental or scientific focus and a advanced understanding of environmental issues and impacts and, especially, of biodiversity threats, management and protections.

Assistant Environmental Officer

Closing Date: 01 March 2024

To provide high level administrative and logistical support to the Environment Department to enable the delivery of a wide range of environmental strategies, programmes and initiatives. Essential criteria for the post include A-Levels, NVQ 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Geography, Environmental Studies or Natural Sciences, 3 years relevant experience, (gained either in the workplace, during school/college/university or via an apprenticeship, or whilst  volunteering or taking part in other similar activities) which demonstrates clear evidence of the capacity to communicate effectively, think critically, listen actively, build consensus, plan effectively, apply a high level of emotional intelligence, multi-task effectively and deliver clear tangible outcomes.
