Covid-19 testing for FIG-funded students

The Falkland Islands Government is pleased to confirm that it will pay the costs of Covid-19 testing for FIG-funded overseas students who are travelling either northbound to the UK or southbound to the Falkland Islands.

This means that FIG-funded students returning to the UK to resume their studies will have the cost of their ‘travel test package’ covered, which is a legal requirement for everyone entering England. The package consists of two Covid-19 tests to be taken on or before day two and on or after day eight of quarantine, and must be booked via this online portal: https://quarantinehotelbookings.ctmportal.co.uk/

Similarly, the government will also pay for PCR tests for FIG-funded students returning to the Falkland Islands. Since 1 March 2021, it has been a requirement of the Republic of Senegal for all travellers to the Falkland Islands, aged two years and over, to provide proof of a negative PCR test for Covid-19 no more than five days before arrival in Senegal.

For information and advice on how to recover these costs please contact the Education Directorate via Lucille McMullen (PA to Director of Education). Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or phone 27289.
