Job Title: Prison Officer - 12 Months Maternity cover
Falkland Islands Government FIG Grade: G1/F starting salary for Grade G1 £21,135 - £24,279 per annum (rising to Grade F £24,950 upon completion of initial four week training) or starting salary for Grade F £24,950 - £28,689 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. 9% shift allowance is payable at either grade.
The Opportunity: For the right person this is an excellent opportunity to join the prison team. The Prison Service values its staff and commits to them through training and development. The role is unlike any other job and is interesting and rewarding. You will be trained, mentored and supported as you develop custodial skills. This will enable you to deliver professional and secure custodial services on behalf of the community. You will work as part of a close-knit team and ensure the security and supervision of those in prison. Additionally, you will play a part in the training and rehabilitation of those committed to prison.
Essential Criteria for the Grade G1 Grade include a minimum of GCSE Grade C/Grade 4 in English and Maths, a minimum of 2 years recent work experience in a relevant field, ability to show excellent communication skills and an ability to remain calm under pressure in challenging situations. To be eligible for the Grade F Grade candidates must have a NVQ 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Custodial Care and a minimum of 5 years recent work experience in a relevant field.
Contract Type: This is a temporary post on standard FIG terms and conditions to cover a period of maternity leave.
