Falkland Islands Government Starting Salary: This is a dual graded role commencing from £47,428 - £54,424 per annum within Grade B or from £56,716 - £65,084 per annum within Grade A - depending on qualifications and experience.
The Opportunity: to ensure the timely and effective management of the Falklands Fishery making evidence-based decisions, using stakeholder, science and compliance information, by working in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Natural Resources. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the team responsible for the monitoring, control and surveillance of the Falkland Island Conservation Zones and other associated fishing activities.
Essential criteria to include a degree (or equivalent) in Marine Science or Fisheries Management (or a relevant subject), with minimum 7 years’ proven experience in a fisheries related role, including personnel management in a similar field or evidence of playing an active role in fisheries/marine enforcement. The applicant needs a comprehensive understanding of fisheries and other maritime legislation.
NB: Applicants without the listed qualifications may be considered if they satisfy other requirements to a very high level or have had previous proven experience within fishery protection or law enforcement appropriate to the post.
