PAYMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY CURRENTLY UNDER CONTRACTS OF EMPLOYMENT
MLAs Elsby, Short and Poole are still under contract with their current employers. All are working their resignation periods and the following procedures have been implemented in respect of the payment of salaries.
MLA Elsby will be utilising one month’s leave to cover the remainder of his resignation period, having resigned two months ago and therefore under the Management Code section 18 will be able to claim full salary.
18. OFFICER PERFORMING DUTIES AS ELECTED COUNCILLOR
Officers who are elected to serve as a member of Legislative Council and are required to undertake duties as an Elected Councillor during normal working hours, may choose to receive their salary or to take unpaid leave but receive an allowance as specified under the Elected Councillor Allowances Ordinance 1990 (as amended).
Officers will not be entitled to receive both an allowance and a salary unless they apply to their Head of Department to take paid leave in order to undertake duties as an Elected Councillor during normal working hours. If the leave is agreed the officer will be eligible to receive his/her salary in addition to any allowance s/he may be entitled to under the Members Remuneration Ordinance 2009 (as amended).
MLAs Short and Poole will be paid pro-rata based on the number of days they are able to work.
All FIG related directorships will not be directly remunerated.
