New FIG Website

The Falkland Islands Government is pleased to announce the going live of its new local services focused website,

The aim of the new site is to create a new channel for residents to access Government services (in addition to the telephone and face to face enquiries).  The site contains links to micro-sites constructed by departments themselves, which are currently information hubs but will be supplemented shortly by on line forms and further access tools.

FIG’s Director of Central Services, Simon Fletcher commented:

“The new website will hopefully make it easier for people to find out about Government services, at anytime of the day.  The next step then is to enable people to also contact us more easily through it by linking email, online application forms and other documents.

We hope people find the site easy to navigate and are able to locate the information they need.  It’s a work in progress but we felt it was important to go live as soon as we could.  Now we’ve done that, we’re committed to resourcing the site so it provides up to date and relevant information on our public services”.

Currently up and running are the sites for; Stanley Leisure Centre, FIGAS, the Post Office, the Falkland Islands Community School, Department of Mineral Resources, Policy Unit, Environmental Planning Department and the National Archives.  More will be coming online over the next few weeks.
