FALKLAND ISLANDS GOVERNMENT DONATES TO PHILIPPINES TYPHOON APPEAL
Members of the Legislative Assembly have approved a £5000 donation from the Falkland Islands Government to the Philippines Typhoon Appeal. The Appeal has been opened locally in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, which caused widespread destruction across the Philippines on the 8th of November.
Money from the Philippines Typhoon Appeal will be sent to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) from the Falkland Islands. DEC is a UK umbrella organisation which brings together 14 of the UK’s largest charities and coordinates responses to major disasters overseas.
This donation is one of many that the Falkland Islands Government has made in response to natural disasters across the globe, having donated £5000 to both Chile and Haiti following earthquakes in 2010.
