FALKLAND ISLANDS GOVERNMENT DISAPPOINTED NOT TO ATTEND EXTRAORDINARY PARLASUR SESSION ON THE FALKLANDS
The Falkland Islands Government sent a formal letter from MLA Gavin Short to Ruben Martinez Huelmo, President of Parlasur, requesting Falkland Islands presence at an extraordinary session of the MercoSur Parliament, where the Falklands Question is due to be discussed. It is believed that Héctor Timerman and Daniel Filmus will present the Argentine argument.
MLA Gavin Short said, ‘We are deeply disappointed that the Falkland Islands Government received no acknowledgement, nor response, to the letter sent requesting that the Falkland Islands be present during an extraordinary MercoSur Parliament session, due to take place tomorrow in Uruguay, to discuss the Falklands Question. Without Islanders present, any discussion regarding the Falklands cannot be considered an impartial or balanced discussion.’
