BOILER FAILURE AT FALKLAND ISLANDS COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Shortly before lunchtime on Wednesday 5th February, a small fault in the central heating system at the Falkland Islands Community School was identified. As a precautionary measure, members of the emergency services attended, but no danger was identified.

There is some resulting water damage, and staff from the Public Works Department are now at the school carrying out repairs. In order for these repairs to be completed in a safe and timely manner, the school has been closed and students advised not to attend for the remainder of today.

A decision will be made later as to whether the school will be open tomorrow, and further information will be circulated in due course.

For further information, please contact the Public Relations and Media Office on 27400. We kindly request that you do not contact the Falkland Islands Community School at this time.
