COMMEMORATIVE ISSUE
The Marriage
of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales and Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles
Issue Date: 29 April 2005

The designs of the two stamps which are denominated 24p and 50p depict photographs of the couple which are used by kind permission of Tim Graham. The photograph for the 24p value was taken at St Lawrence's Church, Didmarton, shortly after the engagement whilst the 50p value was taken at Windsor Castle for a reception on the day of their engagement.
The souvenir sheet shows the sweep from "The Long Walk" towards Windsor Castle. The stamp, which has a denomination of £2, carries an amended version of the 24p stamp to allow the panoramic view of the castle to be seen behind the Royal couple.
The Blessing of the Marriage took place in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, following a Civil Ceremony at Windsor Guildhall and an image of the exterior of the Guildhall is being used on the accompanying First Day Cover.
The people of the Falkland Islands hold a great affinity to Britain and the Royal Family having paid many postal tributes to their Sovereign and Family over the past 150 years, indeed in February 2005 a letter was sent on behalf of the Falkland Islands by Ms Sukey Cameron MBE, Falkland Islands Government UK Representative to Sir Michael Peat, Private Secretary to the Prince of Wales. The full text of the letter reads:
"I would be most grateful if you could convey this message to His Royal Highness on behalf of the Falkland Islands. I have been asked by the Elected Members of the Legislative Council in the Falkland Islands, to pass on their warmest congratulations and good wishes to His Royal Highness and Mrs. Parker Bowles, on the announcement of their forthcoming marriage. All those in the Islands have fond memories of the visit His Royal Highness made to the Islands in 1999 and are most grateful to him for his continued interest. I am sure that everyone there would wish to be associated with this message."
