HRH Princess Alexandra
Visit to the Falkland Islands, 1-5 February 2000

Her Royal Higness the Princess Alexandra was born on Christmas Day 1936. She is the second child and only daughter of the late Duke and Duchess of Kent. She is therefore a cousin of Her Majesty the Queen and in the Order of Succession is 27th in line. Her brothers are the present Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent.

She is married to Sir Angus Ogilvy, they have two children, James and Marina, and four grandchildren.

Princess Alexandra is Patron of numerous organisations, one of which is the United Kingdom Falkland Islands Trust (UKFIT). The United Kingdom Falkland Islands Trust was formed in 1981 as a UK charity to assist the Islands by conducting beneficial projects which are not provided normally by Government, but working closely with the Falkland Islands Government. The Trust is mainly involved in agricultural projects at present. The Trustees of the Trust include ex-governors of the Island, Sir Rex Hunt CMG and David Tatham and Islanders Mr Robin Lee and Mr Tim Miller.

The programme planned for Her Royal Highness will include visits to UKFIT projects in the Falklands at Fitzroy, Port Howard and in Stanley.

The Princess enjoys music, swimming, skiing and riding.
