The stamps in this issue are from a Nativity Screen that belongs to St Mary's Catholic Church in Stanley.
Cross-stitch is a popular hobby in the Falkland Islands and many local ladies and some children were involved in stitching the screen. The Original screen was stitched between August and December 1996. It contains over 330,000 stitches and some 150 colours.
The subject matter is a topical final issue for the year 2000.
The issue consists of five stamps depicting each panel of the screen with all five stamps repeated in the sheetlet. The Official First Day Cover depicts St Mary's Church. Victor Ambrus the artist for this issue regularly appears on the TV programme "Time Team" and has illustrated and written books in addition to designing stamps.
