ATCM XXIX
Edinburgh 2006 Stamp Design Committee

Issue Date: 25 February 2006

The Royal Geographical Society were invited to tender for the running a stamp design competition by the Government of the British Antarctic Territory with the involvement of the British Antarctic Survey. The RGS have experience of running the young geographer of the year competition for some years and their Education Officer has been involved in judging competitions over a long period of time. As the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting is to be held in Scotland next year, it was decided to limit entry to the competition to schools on mainland Scotland. The Scottish Association of Geography teachers were also involved in the mounting of the competition. An exhibition of winners and other entrants work will be mounted by the RGS.
