Taste of the Falklands: Recipe Book Launched in London
30 May 2007
Natural Ingredients: Taste of the Falklands, a coffee-table recipe book showcasing the wonderful landscapes and natural produce of the Falkland Islands, is launched today at Falkland House, London.
Co-produced by restaurateur Alex Olmedo and photographer Julie Bellhouse, the book features starters, mains and desserts inspired by the clean, green and fresh ingredients of the Falklands. For example, cooks can create a Falklands feast starting with Crab and Smoked Trout Ravioli, followed by Rack of Lamb Au Chocolat, with Teaberry and Raspberry Crème Brulée to finish. The mouth-watering recipes are accompanied by stunning photographs of Falklands scenery and wildlife.
As Baroness Margaret Thatcher says in the foreword: "This new book seeks to bring to a wider audience an essence of the unspoilt character of the south Atlantic. These recipes take the natural products of the Islands and the seas which surround them, and blend them into dishes full of the fresh flavours of the Falklands."
Natural Ingredients: Taste of the Falklands retails at £20 and can be purchased directly from Falkland House in London by calling 020 7222 2542.
