Mr John Birmingham

Biography:     Born in Salford, Lancashire 1953; educated at Oak Park School then Chichester College. Joined the Merchant Navy in 1970, leaving in 1974 to work in the Falkland Islands on sheep farms. After travelling in South America in 1976, returned to the Islands, married, to work in agriculture around the Camp. Moved to Stanley in 1988. Self employed for over 20 years; latest venture is "Two Sisters", a company set up to manage various contracts.

First stood for the Legislative Assembly in 1993. Elected one year later at a by-election, serving three terms before losing seat in 2005. Re-elected at the by-election of 2008.

Married to Louise with two children - Alexandra and Joseph. Interests include short tennis, walking, Scottish Country Dancing and reading non-fiction.
